Abstract

One of the most important hospitals in the country is Mario Catarino Rivas, who is in charge of the health of many Hondurans. The shortage of medicines is one of the topics most acclaimed by the Honduran people, so this article aims to project the availability of medicines in order to understand the level of prevention in case of epidemics. Statistical methods based on the 2018 and 2019 information were used for this purpose. The most important results are reflected in medicines for dengue prevention where only 70% of the population will be able to access this medicine and the rise in medicines for patients with type II diabetes. Finally, the authors conclude that the hospital's health system does not have an efficient logistics for treating epidemics. An example of this is the dengue epidemic in 2019 and the behavior of acetaminophen that year. This must be of great interest to the health authorities, to prevent epidemics as the most named in 2020: the COVID-19.
