Abstract

This study describes the construction of a haptic display that produces thermal and vibro-tactile stimulation to simulate the texture sensation of textiles, which can help online shoppers evaluate products. The results of the sensory evaluation demonstrate that using thermal stimulation in addition to vibro-tactile stimulation improves texture sensation. The current challenges in the development of haptics displays are also discussed.
