Abstract
The article is devoted to the contemporary architecture of Portugal. The author focuses on the originality of the handwriting of the architects of the XXI century, which consists in striving for new solutions and imagery. It is emphasized that architects of today combine a balance of local and global. In this regard, the article pays attention to the national phenomena of Portuguese architecture, which determine its pronounced identity – the Manueline style with its figurative decorativeness and azulejo tiles, still used in the design of facades and interiors of buildings. The most striking works of architects, which have already become world heritage, are considered and analyzed.
