Abstract

Human trafficking is an important global phenomenon and the South American region is no exception. This international crime is closely related to migratory flows in the region, so that its main victims those migrants are in vulnerable situations seeking better living conditions in other states and are captured and subjected to sexual and labor trafficking. The human trafficking involving a serious offense against human rights of those who suffer, so that requires special measures to assist victims. However, states do not always take effective action. In this sense, proper implementation of public policies in support of the crime of trafficking in persons, constitutes an international obligation of States through international treaties, which are not implemented, would involve the international responsibility for lack of due diligence. In the case of Argentina, although progress has been made in recent years in creating laws to fight and provide assistance tools, remain to be translated into effective programs to help medium and long term to victims.
