Abstract

The letters written by the Habsburg Family constitute a fundamental source in order to study the diplomatic and political history from both, the Hispanic Monarchy and the Empire; they are also the way to comprehend better the personalities of the authors and leading actors of these processes. As historians we should go deep in the analysis of these epistolary documents looking into their genesis, not only their contents. Through the analysis of one case, we want to unravel the process and dismiss some preconceived ideas. Copyright:
