Abstract

The 19F NMR method has been used to investigate the mechanism of the initiation of polymerization of epichlorohydrin and of its copolymerization with THF, using boron trifluoride tetrahydrofuranate and triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate. It is shown that initiation by a Lewis acid results in the formation of a zwitter-ionic type active centre. © 1981.
