Abstract

This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the VLSI implementation of the Inverse Discrete Sine Transform (IDST) based on quasi-band correlation structures. The implementation uses a restructured form of the matrix-vector product from the IDST definition that is amenable to an efficient systolic array realization employing the quasi-band correlation type computational structure. The proposed algorithm exhibits the advantages of a low arithmetic complexity that leads to reduced hardware and I/O costs and improved high-speed performance.
