Abstract

Parashorea malaanonan (Blco) Merr.is a forest tree species from dipterocarpaceae. This tree species has been included in the IUCN's Global Red List of critically endangered species. To counter this condition a research is needed to study the ecological condition in naturalforest and its taxonomy and distribution. The purpose of this study is to collect data andinformation on ecology of Parashorea malaanonan (Blco) Merr in Labanan Forest Research Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. A purposive sampling method was used to produce an inventory of the natural stand with total area of 100 m x 100 m (1 ha) and divided into 25 sub-sample plots. Ecology data consist of (a) phisycal properties of soil, (b) chemical propertiesof soil and (c) micro climate data and additional data (d) topography. Data analysis uses vegetation analysis, species association and association coefficient. The result of the research showed that Parashorea malaanonan (Blco) Merr. has a minimum of Important value, a good physical properties (bulk density, soil porosity, soil moisture content, texture soil), a moderate chemical properties (pH acid, low of macro and micro element), low of micro climate, high humidity and low of light intensity.
