Abstract

The objective of this study was to collect basic data for medicinal ingredients such as ginsenosides (Re and Rb1) contents grown in forests in Korea. To achieve this purpose, 10 forest stands have been selected in various mountain areas. Agricultural cultivated ginseng was used to compare with ginsenosides of forest ginseng. Rb 1 and Re contents of forest ginseng grown in 10 forests were higher than agricultural cultivated ginseng. Regionally, Rb1, and Re contents of the Panax ginseng grown in Jeongsun, Sangju and Namyangju were generally higher than those of 10 other forests in Korea. © 2010 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
