Abstract

The various types of connections or couplings used in fluid engineering are evaluated with particular reference to hydraulic circuits. The diagrams show the different types of collar and clamps used. Butt welding and socket welding techniques are compared. Various criteria should be taken into account when selecting from the wide range of components available, including the characteristics of the particular types of connector and the fitting and maintenance costs.
