Black Triangle and its Management in Dentistry: A Review Article

Abstract

In today’s world demand for aesthetics amongst both clinicians and patients is increasing rapidly. The interdental papilla is one such aesthetic zone that is addressed as ‘pink triangle’ in dentistry. The loss of this interdental papilla due to several reasons leads to an unaesthetic zone known as ‘black triangle’. The black triangle is not only unaesthetic but also leads to various other problems including food impaction and lack of phonetics. Hence various surgical and non-surgical techniques are being introduced to restore the aesthetics by regenerating or reconstructing the lost interdental papilla. The aesthetics in maxillary anterior region after pocket elimination therapy is the most essential aspect of periodontal therapy. This review article includes interdental papilla loss and its various management techniques.
