Abstract

Distribution network reconfiguration is a solution to minimize losses and improve electricity quality. The method for reducing power losses uses Newton Raphson as a power flow calculation with a case study of the Tumpang feeder at PLN ULP Tumpang using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method to determine a new reconfiguration path. Reconfiguration is done only by creating a new feeder by adding 2 new switching points. The results show the ACO method can find a new configuration that minimizes losses. The power losses resulting from the new configuration are 251.4 KW or 40,509% of the total initial losses of 620.6 kW. The voltage profile at the base bus and the end of the network became more better than the voltage before reconfiguration, where the base voltage before reconfiguration is 19.95 KV and after reconfiguration increases to 19.99 KV. While the end voltage before reconfiguration is 18.49KV and after reconfiguration becomes 19.33KV.
