Short report for Leprosy Review: ILEP Conference, 2022: Health system strengthening

Abstract

The integration of leprosy services into general health systems obliges ILEP Members to consider their role in health system strengthening. This report describes key findings from a 2022 ILEP conference that tackled this question. The report explores how leprosy-related programmes can be implemented in a way that strengthens health systems and does not result in dependency. From that basis it describes the roles ILEP can play in health system strengthening, and concludes by discussing how ILEP and partner organisations can best support integration of leprosy into public health systems and domestic health strategies.
