Abstract

Finite element model is built to predict speci-men size eeect based on nominal strength. The progressive damage model is described completely and compared with experimental results of diierent scaling geometry. The e-nite element simulation uses the real mechanical and frac-ture properties of glass sber reinforced epoxy laminates. The enite element results are in good agreement with the experimental results for both strength prediction, and di-rection of crack propagation of the fracture-processing zone. The proposed Finite element simulation can be used to deene the location of critical section very well.
