The San Salvador Earthquake of October 10, 1986—Overview and Context

Abstract

This paper presents a brief overview of the earthquake and its effects on the population and economy of El Salvador, including casualty and damage estimates. Preliminary conclusions reached by an EERI reconnaissance team that spent five days in El Salvador following the earthquake are outlined.
