This paper aims to study the causal relationship between the financial aid received by ASEAN countries with three economic development indicators namely the education index, the life expectancy index and the human development index which is estimated using the method of dynamic panel data. The period of study begins from 2000 to 2012 consisting seven ASEAN countries. The finding of the study finds that foreign financial aid positively influences the three development indicators in the long run. In the short run, this variable shows a positive and significant relationship with the life expectancy index but negative towards the education index. This study implicates that financial aid is important for developing countries to achieve the goal of development policy.
