Abstract

This is a book review of the work “The Network Society”, originally published in 1991 - “De Netwerkmaatschappij” - in Dutch, in which Jan van Dijk coined the expression “network society”, which was to be redesigned in 1996 by Spanish sociologist Manuel Castells, in his work “The Rise of the Network Society”, the first part of a trilogy called “The Information Age”.Trata-se de um book review da obra “The Network Society”, originalmente publicada em 1991 - “De Netwerkmaatschappij” - em holandês, em que Jan van Dijk cria a expressão “sociedade em rede”, que viria a ser redesenhada em 1996 pelo sociólogo espanhol Manuel Castells, em sua obra “The Rise of the Network Society”, a primeira parte de uma trilogia denominada “The Information Age”.
