EFEKTIVITAS KEBIJAKAN PENGENDALIAN IMPOR KOMUDITAS PERGARAMAN TERHADAP KESEJAHTERAAN PETAMBAK GARAM DI KABUPATEN JENEPONTO

Abstract

Abstrack Indonesia is a maritime country with the longest line in the world with good sea water potential as a basis for making salt. However, ironically Indonesia has not been able to meet its national salt needs. The inability to produce national salt to meet domestic salt needs has resulted in the government issuing a salt import policy. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of salt imports, especially in Jeneponto Regency and to review the effectiveness of the salt commodity import control policy on the welfare of salt farmers in Jeneponto Regency. This study used qualitative research methods. The results showed that the impact of salt import activities was felt by salt farmers in Jeneponto. The increase in salt imports from year to year has resulted in the national salt price dropping and the lack of market demand. This has resulted in a decrease in the welfare of the community, especially salt farmers. The government has issued various policies to control salt imports. However, until now this policy has not had a positive impact on the welfare of salt farmers. In fact, this policy has caused chaos in the salt sector.
