Abstract
Gridfinite Possibilities explores the interface of an illuminated 8x8 button grid as simultaneous input and output device. Individually addressable LEDs under a silicone cube button pad serve as a platform for creativity in 8x8 resolution. The demonstration uses a set of RFID cards to allow the user to reconfigure the device's button programming mode to play a variety of classic grid-based logic and low-resolution games on the system. This paper reviews existing button matrix devices and considers theory of button pushing and remapping. Initial user feedback aligns with a proposal for further study on user cognition in reaction to reassigned buttons on a control device.
