Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death in Western countries, despite major advances in diagnosis and therapy in recent decades. In Brazil, it is estimated that in 2020 the number of deaths will increase by 20%. The high morbidity and mortality from CVD implies in high socioeconomic impact, since such cases focus mostly on economically active individuals. The most frequently affected age group is 50 to 65 years, however it has been noticed a significant increase in the number of cases in younger patients. In this work a literature review was conducted in the database on the sedentary lifestyle, Overweight and Obesity with for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in young adults. For this, a search with keywords in Portuguese "sedentary lifestyle", "overweight", "obesity" and their counterparts in English was performed at a index such as Portal Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), that contains LILACS, Portal Capes, Medline and American databases as PubMed and Web of Science. Sedentary behavior and obesity are increasingly frequent risk factor (RF) in young adults and can trigger chronic non-communicable diseases early on.
