Abstract
In the framework of Law 1788 of 2016 and Law 1595 of 2012 of Colombia, the promotion and protection of the rights of domestic workers is ensured, however, in the performance of their daily work they are exposed to risk factors, which causes the presence of stress, fatigue, emotional exhaustion, among other pathologies, therefore, the present study aims to evaluate the Burnout Syndrome in domestic workers in Colombia. A descriptive quantitative methodology was used with the application of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) instrument, consisting of 22 items with a Likert scale and a high internal consistency and a reliability close to 0.9. It was applied to 401 domestic employees or workers. The instrument allows recognizing that the assessment against the scale of personal fulfillment has low signs of Burnout Syndrome, but in relation to emotional exhaustion and depersonalization the condition is medium, with high possibilities of presence of the syndrome. The presence of Burnout Syndrome is in a medium scale and with high possibility of presence in time, therefore, the domestic worker should be guided, provided and accompanied for its prevention.
