A new subspecies of Astragalus (Section Caprini DC. Fabaceae) from Turkey

Abstract

A new record of Astragalus pinetorum Boiss. in Turkey is described as a new subspecies, A. pinetorum Boiss. ssp. multifoliatus Akpulat & Çelik. The diagnostic characters, description, detailed illustrations, and taxonomic comments are presented. Its characteristics are compared with those of the three related subspecies of A. pinetorum. The geographical distribution of A. pinetorum ssp. multifoliatus is mapped. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) threatened category and observations on the population are noted. © 2007 The Linnean Society of London.
