Abstract

Spare parts are one of the important components of the production process at PT. Sari Warna Asli Textile. The production line at this company consists of dyeing, finishing, and printing. In fact, dyeing and finishing production lines often experience the absence of spare parts, while the mechanical department requires these parts. Therefore, this study discusses the improvement of inventory control of parts included in the important ABC category using a periodic review policy. The research begins with the classification of spare parts using the ABC-Fuzzy classification method followed by forecasting parts using Syntetos Boylan Aprroximation. Then, the research is continued with the determination of inventory levels, which are the maximum inventory amount (R) and time between orders (T). The minimum total inventory cost is obtained by investigating the impact of several service levels on total cost. The results show that the service level obtained by the proposed policy is higher than the service level determined by the company. It also show that the proposed policy performs better reducing total inventory cost compared to company policy.
