Abstract

Cerium doped hydroxyapatite ceramics were synthesized by sol-gel method. The structural properties of Cerium doped hydroxyapatite ceramics were analyzed by FTIR spectra and EDS results. SEM images indicates that undoped and Ce doped HaP ceramics are formed from the nanoparticles. The particle size of the ceramics is controlled by Ce dopant. The dielectric constant of the ceramics are changed with Ce content. A non-Debye relaxation mechanism was observed in the ceramics. The highest dielectric constant was found to be for x = 0.5 Ce dopant. The ferroelectric properties of cerium doped hydroxyapatite ceramics are changed with Ce content. The obtained results indicate that the dielectrical and polarization properties of hydroxyapatite is changed with the incorporation of Ce.
