Abstract
Microwave remote sensing was used to determine the physical properties of soil. The ability to estimate soil moisture in the surface layer by microwave remote sensing was demonstrated under a variety of topographic and land cover conditions. Several algorithms were developed for measuring bare surface soil moisture quantitatively, using dual polarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data.
