Community economic development handbook: A valuable teaching resource for students pursuing training as community empowerment facilitators

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the newly developed guidebook in instructing students who are undergoing training as community empowerment facilitators in the field of community economic development. Ninety-nine students participated in evaluating the suitability of the guidebook for their educational needs. Data was collected via a Google form to evaluate participants' average perspectives on different aspects, such as their comprehension of the concept of economic development, the utilization of case studies, the appropriateness of the materials for diverse participant backgrounds, the pertinence of the learning materials, the adaptability of the materials, the consideration of cultural factors and local norms, instances of successful implementation, contentment with the learning materials, the conviction that the learning materials aid in achieving training objectives, and suggestions for enhancing the learning materials. The research findings revealed that each student provided positive comments, stating that it met their educational needs. The analysis of the findings is conducted within the context of employing design principles to develop instructional materials for students who aim to become facilitators of community empowerment.
