Abstract

Direct contact heat transfer between a liquid and a vapor can be calculated by using a procedure similar to that used by Souders and Brown to solve absorption and stripping problems. It is demonstrated by three examples that the amount of contacting needed to give sufficient heat transfer between two fluids can be calculated by using an analogy of a distillation tray.
