Abstract

Language endangerment, driven by colonization, globalization, and urbanization, threatens linguistic diversity and cultural heritage worldwide. This study explores the historical and sociocultural factors contributing to language loss and evaluates strategies for revitalizing endangered mother tongues. Key approaches include mother tongue-based education, bilingual programs, community-driven initiatives, and digital tools like AI and multimedia platforms. While education-based strategies, such as immersion programs, have shown promise, challenges like financial constraints, sociocultural resistance, and technological barriers persist. Effective revitalization requires interdisciplinary collaboration, equitable policies, and global partnerships. UNESCO and other international organizations play a pivotal role in safeguarding linguistic heritage, but localized efforts and community involvement are equally critical. This research highlights the cultural, educational, and socioeconomic benefits of language preservation, emphasizing the need for sustainable, inclusive strategies to ensure the survival of endangered languages. By integrating historical insights, technological innovations, and collaborative frameworks, this study proposes actionable recommendations for revitalizing mother tongues, fostering cultural identity, and promoting linguistic diversity in an increasingly globalized world.
