Abstract

In Ecuador, tourism has become an economic sector of main interest for national development, for this reason and within the framework of the National Tourism Plan 2030, the research focuses on analyzing hotel management in the Machala canton from the perspective of competitiveness, for this purpose a documentary bibliographic and newspaper research is developed, supported by databases such as Redalyc, Scielo, Dialnet, Scopus, repositories of university institutions and official, national and international institutions; The documents were discriminated by their date of publication (last 5 years) and by country of origin, with preference for Latin American and Caribbean countries. The research method is descriptive and the information processing responds to content analysis. Among the aspects with the greatest impact for the consolidation of competitiveness in the sector are tourism marketing, innovation, service quality, knowledge management, among others, which can generate optimal conditions to achieve tourist satisfaction and loyalty. both national and international. For its part, the hotel sector (accommodation and food) is a key link in the chain of services necessary to generate a high-impact experience that incorporates elements of value in the scale of preferred destinations for visitors. The management of the hotel sector requires the appropriate use of information related to demand, passenger traffic, destinations, preferences, expectations, desires, representing an opportunity to align own resources with common ones in order to develop competitive advantages that promote tourism as a source developmental.
