Abstract

Solutoparies is a distinct genus of Chytridiomycetes. However, the genus name Solutoparies Whiffen and the species name Solutoparies pythii Whiffen require nomenclatural validation. Both names are herein validated by provision of Latin diagnoses and citation of the type. The author citation of these names is now Whiffen ex Blackwell & Powell. The existence of a possible additional species of the monotypic genus Solutoparies is discussed.
