Abstract

The surface chemical analysis community is forging new initiatives to develop clear standards and guides for their use of multivariate mathematical methods. In this short communication, we briefly outline three of these initiatives: the development of an ISO standard terminology for multivariate analysis, the development of an ISO guide for the use of multivariate analysis, and the organisation of an international multivariate analysis workshop. This will accelerate the progress in this field and ensure the widest uptake and impact of these useful methods. © Crown copyright 2008.
