Post-metaphysical environmental education

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the crisis of metaphysics associated with the crisis of Environmental Education. It is an approach from the horizon of Philosophical Hermeneutics, in which in a first moment the starting point is the identification and problematization of the concept of rationality that guides traditional metaphysics, while in a second moment the crisis of metaphysics made by Habermas is discussed, subsequently presenting the conditions of ‘post-metaphysical thought’. This process allows to suggest a post-Metha-physical Environmental Education from the conception of ‘environmental rationality’ proposed by Leff. The need for this perspective is associated with the fact that ‘Conservative Environmental Education’ finds numerous diffi-culties in facing the problems of our time. In this sense, the emergence of a ‘post-metaphysical environmental education’ can contribute to the renewal of environmental meanings and possibilities of action. These movements can offer very fruitful contributions to the field of the foundations of environmental education.
