Abstract

The article discusses the unusual nocturnal feeding of Brown Rock-chat Cercomela fusca in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. It mentions the impact of intra and inter-specific competitions between animals on their behavioral plasticity in optimizing foraging success. It also speculates that such species have developed nocturnal foraging as a behavioral adaptation that further increases feeding efficiency and optimization of food acquisition with less competition.
