Abstract

Conventional conceptual models like the Binary Relationship Model (also known as NIAM) or the Entity-Relationship Model do not fit well with the promising object oriented database systems. In this paper we show that is possible to turn such a conventional conceptual model (in particular the Binary Relationship Model) into a truly object oriented conceptual model which combines the assets of the conventional model with the advantages of the object oriented approach.
