Abstract
Person-Centered Medicine is the modality of medical practice that has been proposed in recent years as a response to the old debates that from time immemorial exist in terms of medical assistance to the sick. It is aimed at understanding the patient as a human being and his medical attention focused on his own needs as a person within the social context in which he lives. It contrasts with the focus on the disease and not on the sick as a whole; and with the focus on the doctor. The most important element of this paradigm shift is the biopsychosocial model that takes into account the patient, the social context where he lives and the other complementary elements used by the social environment to manage the disruptive effects of the disease. We number your main objectives: 1. Respect the dignity of the human being. 2. Recognize the holistic conception of the person and his environment. 3. Offer care, support and / or treatment in coordination. 4. Offer these services individually and with the necessary information so that the person participates and commits to their treatment. 5. Give support and support to the person so that they recognize their own abilities that allow them to live happily and fully. We emphasize the need to prepare medical students within these parameters and implement a national health system based on primary care and person-centered care.
