Abstract

The accelerated loss and transformation of traditional housing in Michoacán in recent decades makes it urgent the need to propose strategies and policies to stop this trend. Taking into consideration the qualities that these types of constructions present, such as their historical-cultural, technical-architectural, comfort, sustainability, potential to generate economic resources and satisfy current needs, some strategies can be considered to counteract their deterioration and lost. Based on various documents, its values are reviewed and the need to reassess this type of heritage as a reflection of the way of life of past generations and for the benefit of current and future generations, register and catalog it, make practices more efficient, legislate its protection, as well as disclose its importance and qualities.
