Abstract

The method of RYDMR (reaction yield detected magnetic resonance) has been applied for studying the annihilation of triplet excitons in crystals of the charge transfer complex anthracene-tetracyanobenzene at room temperature. It has been demonstrated that the optical polarization of spins of triplet excitons results in a non-uniform population of magnetic sub-levels of the short-lived intermediate complex during annihilation. The RYDMR spectra of these complexes reflect this phenomenon as the reversal of lines. Two-quanta microwave frequency transitions in intermediate complexes have been discovered. The life time of the complexes τ = 1.4 × 10-7 s has been determined. © 1978.
