Abstract

A description of the scientific programme's objectives and methodology. There are 6 general objectives: characterisation of clouds; validation and improvement of satellite cloud-retrieval techniques; improvement of cloud radiation models; description of cloud space/time statistics; improvement of cloud dynamics models; validation and improvement of general circulation model cloud parameterisations. The methodology is of extended time data acquisition and intensive field observations, the latter being concerned with 4 periods of study of particular cloud types. - after Authors
