Abstract

The polycondensation of H2N(CH2)6NH2, Me3SiNH(CH2)6NHSiMe3, H2N(CH2)12NH2, 4,4'-methylenedianiline (I), or 4,4'-oxydianiline with bis(pentafluorophenyl) adipate (II) [83701-40-0] or bis(pentafluorophenyl) isophthalate (III) [92996-14-0] and the polycondensation of I with bis(pentachlorophenyl) adipate or bis(pentachlorophenyl) isophthalate in (Me2N)3PO under mild conditions gave polyamides having high viscosities. The causes of the high reactivity of the pentafluorophenyl esters were discussed. II and III were prepd. from pentafluorophenol [771-61-9] and RCO(CH2)4COR or m-C6H4(COR)2 (R = OH or Cl).
