Migration as a new revolution in modern europe (book review: "after europe" by Ivan Krastev)

Abstract

After Europe written by Ivan Krastev, a famous political scientist, was published in Russian in 2018. Despite the fact that the topics of the origin, the current migration challenges and the future of the EU raised in the book are widely discussed internationally, its many aspects have not gained widespread popularity in the Russian scientific literature. The article attempts to outline Krastev's ideas with an emphasis on the role that the flow of migrants who come to Europe from the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa plays in political destabilization. The review also touches upon the outbreak of far-right populism, difficult questions facing the Eastern European countries, as well as an uneasy political and economic situation a possible collapse of the EU might lead to.
