Abstract

A classification of corrosion is proposed. Seven classes of corrosion are discussed: (i) selective corrosion, (ii) crevice corrosion, (iii) mechanochemical corrosion, (iv) electrochemical corrosion, (v) chemical corrosion, (vi) biological corrosion and (vii) high-temperature corrosion.
