Abstract
Matrix of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites was prepared through the incorporation of solid silicon dioxide with phenolic resin. Different heat treatment temperatures were adopted to investigate the effect of temperature on the formation of SiC. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to identify the structure of produced SiC. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) enabled to describe the morphology of SiC. Further, flexural strengths of the fabricated C/C composites were also determined.
