Abstract

Crohn’s disease is regarded as having no cure. Symptoms may be alleviated by medicines including immunosuppressant drugs, steroids and biological therapy. These, however, may induce side effects. On the long run Crohn’s disease has a progressive course. Previously there have been some attempts to use a dietary approach in the treatment of the disease. These resulted in no major breakthrough. The authors of the present paper are using an evolutionary approach to disease and believe that returning to an evolutionary adapted diet, they refer to as the paleolithic ketogenic diet, may be remedial in inflammatory bowel diseases.
