Abstract
THE collection of tracheobronchial washings is indicated in the diagnostic investigation of airway disease of undetermined aetiology. The material obtained from the washings is representative of changes occurring in the major airways (trachea and bronchi) and can be submitted for both cytological examination and bacteriological culture.
