Abstract

Modern communication systems are essential to ensure that a company can react quickly to customers' demands. Information networks such as the Internet and Minitel and multimedia facilities such as CD-ROM are discussed. The system of data exchange via EDI (electronic data interchange) is outlined, and the introduction of Editex-Europe, an EDI standard at European level for textile and clothing distribution is described. The use of EDI saves time, raises quality and clarifies communication.
