The Rationale and History of Vocology

Abstract

The definition of vocology is re-stated and its existence as a discipline for the study of all forms of vocalization across species is rationalized. A brief historical sketch is given regarding the birth of vocology and its progression in the last three decades. An explanation is offered why vocology parallels audiology to some extent and why vocologists and audiologists would benefit from more interaction.
