Abstract

Flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), or bulk bags, are woven polypropylene containers designed to accommodate package weights of one to two tons of granular or powdered products. Their use has grown over the last decade as they offer the ability to move more product using less labor. Various designs and their filling and discharging options are shown. Most FIBCs can be reconditioned and used several times. Safety issues include the tendency of the bags to build up electrostatic charges during filling and discharging.
