Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools

Abstract

Developed out a community participatory research partnership with schools, the Cognitive-Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools Program is a targeted intervention for school children who have experienced a traumatic or violent event and have symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder. This article describes the original development of the program, with its emphasis on student diversity and school culture. The authors describe the program and its elements, as well as developments over the past decade of work that include modifications for special populations, implementation and dissemination activities, and research on these efforts. © 2012 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
