Abstract

The (Seattle) calibration curve is derived from 14C determination of 195 decade samples from AD 1 to 1950. Comparisons with the Belfast, La Jolla, and Heidelberg laboratory curves show that the total variability in a 14C age determination is often larger than that predicted for the quoted errors; figures for correction are supplied. Offsets with these laboratory curves from the Seattle curve are also noted, eg the Belfast offset is 4 years. -from British Archaeological Abstracts
