Abstract

The archaeological evidence both from excavatedsites and field survey suggests a significant divisionin the prehistoric economic organisation of the TasmanianAborigines of the East and West/NorthWest habitats of the island. A nomadic organisationis interpreted for the Eastern sites, and asemi-sedentary or seasonally-sedentary organisationfor the West and North-West coastal sites.
